Accountable to you
NASA is privately-owned, meaning we’re accountable to you. Unlike companies run by investment groups or parent organizations,
our growth and software design are driven by you, the customer. Because of this, we constantly strive to create long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with our clients.
Our sole purpose is to give independent insurance agents like you the tools and training you need to build your business, allowing you
to spend more time on relationships and less time in spreadsheets.
In-House Programming & Support
We’re proud that we created our Eclipse Insurance Agency Management System in-house, right here in Central Minnesota.
We continue to innovate and add new integrations and features you and other independent insurance agents need with our
in-house programming team. This means we have complete control over the system, and don’t have to rely on outsourced and overseas
programmers like many other systems.
We also offer amazing live customer support from your very own Eclipse trainer in-house at NASA. Our trainers are experts in the
system because they interact and collaborate with our programmers every day. Training can be done over the phone, via internet screen sharing or instant messaging.
Our Story
More than 35 years ago, in 1982, Brian Borgerding created a management system for independent insurance agencies in the basement
of North American State Bank in Belgrade, MN. That year, he incorporated North American Software Associates (NASA) based on the
Eclipse Insurance Agency Management System.
Brian recognized the need for specific management software for independent insurance agencies, software which was built from an
insurance agent’s point of view rather than a software developer’s. This mindset helped NASA quickly earn customers from the local
Central Minnesota area, and we were soon serving independent insurance agencies across the nation.
In 1995, Brian sold NASA to two longtime employees, Bruce Dickhoff and David Jondahl. They became president and vice president of
the company, respectively.
NASA operated from the bank basement until 2000 when we broke ground on our first office building located in Belgrade, and moved in
later that year. At the time NASA had 9 full-time employees.
NASA entered a renewed period of growth in 2002 with the acquisition of clients from Insurance Automation, Inc. (Smart Agent) based
in Port Orchard, WA. All of those clients were converted to Eclipse. NASA’s commitment to current customers, the new clients and future clients only grew, as did our ability to give agencies the necessary tools to operate.
By 2010, NASA outgrew our 10-year-old building in Belgrade and moved to leased office space in nearby Sauk Centre, MN.
Vice President David Jondahl retired on Jan. 1, 2013, with President Bruce Dickhoff taking over sole-ownership of the company.
David had been with the company since 1984 and Bruce has been since 1986 and still is today.
After leasing office space for 5-½ years we broke ground on our current location, also in Sauk Centre, in early 2015, moving in August
of the same year. This new location was designed specifically with room for growth in the coming years. Currently, NASA has 19
full-time employees and more than 1,100 agencies are using the Eclipse Insurance Agency Management System in more than 36 states.
